About This Project
The Steel Column Calculator will serve as a systematic procedure for evaluating the load-carrying capacity of built-up steel columns. It begins by identifying the section’s geometric properties and assessing symmetry to locate the centroid and neutral axis. Subsequent steps involve calculating the moment of inertia, radius of gyration, and slenderness ratio. Based on the computed slenderness, the column is classified as either long or intermediate, guiding the appropriate formula for allowable stress and axial capacity
Built following AISC standards and utilizing the Allowable Stress Design (ASD) method, this calculator provides engineers and students with accurate, reliable structural analysis results for steel column design.
